Young Movers (YoMo) is Glasgow's North East and North West Youth Empowerment Charity, providing services that empower young people that live across the North East and North West of Glasgow.
We bring both youth empowerment and human rights perspective to the achievement of social and economic objectives. We regularly break new ground in the field of lifelong learning and youth engagement, and we champion and promote the interests of young people and their right to be involved in decision-making processes that impact on their lives.

We deliver a variety of volunteering opportunities for young people to get involved in, including:
Peer Education – young people take part in training to increase confidence & facilitation skills. They then have the opportunity to create a resource on a topic they are passionate about e.g anti-sectarianism, gambling awareness etc.
Youth Health Champions – a partnership project with NHS North East Health Improvement Team. It aims to support young people in promoting health awareness and behaviour change within their local community.
YouthBank - an innovative grant-making initiative run by young people for young people. We are about more than giving out grants; the YouthBank supports young people to build their skills, knowledge and confidence whilst improving their community for the benefit of others.
Weekly Workshops – an engagement programme filled with fun activities that aims to work with young people to build their skills and confidence. The goal is to get young people active in their communities.

We also offer a bespoke training and engagement programme to groups of young people within school. With Youth Achievement Awards and Dynamic Youth Awards, we will also be able to accredit young people who are attending the programme. We offer training on employability, volunteering, Emergency First Aid, Anti Bullying, Anti Sectarianism, Financial Inclusion, Health & Nutrition and also work towards building the young person’s confidence, and social skills throughout the course.

Our mission is to enable young people to empower themselves by promoting the following:

  • Human rights
  • Active citizenship
  • Volunteering
  • Lifelong learning activities

SWAMP
(South West Glasgow)

SWAMP was established in 1996, and is a forward-thinking Community Development Trust and registered charity, using accredited training, outreach, film, music, digital technologies, gardening and the creative arts to enable and empower social change.

SWAMP enhances cultural awareness, promotes social inclusion and builds community spirit within the locality, and has been successfully sustaining this for over two decades. During this time we have taken a dilapidated building within our community and redeveloped it, and are now planning another move to new premises. We strongly believe in the model of inclusion through creation, and work collaboratively with children, young people, older people and communities to achieve our aims; predominantly, but not exclusively, with vulnerable groups.

We consider the arts, community involvement and accrediting training to be positive tools for change, helping people to:

  • Build confidence and attain new skills
  • Get back into work or education
  • Source work in the creative arts
  • Enjoy better health or simply improve quality of life

SWAMP
was one of the first organisations in Glasgow to use creative media, digital arts and new technologies as tools for community engagement, cross-referencing them to skills and learning, and later adopting the Curriculum for Excellence approach into our programmes. Through our accredited training programmes we provide young people with the skills and attributes they need to successfully make the life transition from school to employment or further education, supporting them to better understand their local environment, and encouraging them to engage in the process of lifelong learning and active citizenship. Our bespoke programmes and projects are designed and planned with the learner very much at the heart of the process and our objectives continue to focus on developing the skills of young people to become successful learners in life and work.

FARE

FARE Scotland are a voluntary organisation based in the East End of Glasgow. It was established in 1989 by local people in response to the lack of support and opportunities in the community, especially for families and young people.

The mission: to tackle poverty, improve life chances, raise aspirations and encourage people to become more actively involved with their communities. FARE Scotland engages with a diverse range of people in community centres, education and organisations throughout Scotland. The services range from employability training courses to youth clubs, senior citizen groups and family learning. We also work full time in over 15 schools across Glasgow to tackle the poverty related attainment gap.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, FARE used their community connections to offer emergency food provision. Over the course of a 10-month period, FARE packed and delivered over a million meals to the most vulnerable people in communities across Glasgow.

FARE recently acquired Stepford Sports Park and were successful in securing £1.6million in funding from Social Investment Scotland for the first phase of the redevelopment.

In partnership with Easterhouse FA, it will provide sports and leisure, facilities and activities to meet a range of needs, interests and abilities in order to:

 · Engage the community in football, physical exercise, and other sports

· Enable community integration

· Improve employability skills of young people

· Generate income to reinvest in the social purpose of both organisations

· Promote other FARE services

FARE has also begun discussions with The National Lottery on potential funding of the second phase of the project, which would not only lead to a redeveloped facility, but also provide a base for them to carry out and build on the other community work they deliver in the city.

Looking to the future, FARE Scotland aim to expand their services and work towards a common goal where people and communities thrive and are free from the effects of poverty
